Meta has introduced a new Content Protection tool on Facebook designed to help creators protect their original Reels from being copied or reposted without permission. Once you enroll in Content Protection, every original Reel you post to Facebook is automatically monitored for reuse across both Facebook and Instagram.
The system scans the platforms continuously and alerts you whenever it detects matches—whether full or partial—to your original content. From your Professional Dashboard, you can choose how to handle these matches: Track them to view performance metrics and add attribution labels, Block them to remove visibility of the copied Reel, or Release your claim if you wish to allow the repost.

This feature uses the same proven technology as Meta’s Rights Manager and lets you even protect older Reels by selecting them manually. Meta advises responsible use to avoid penalties for false claims or misuse. While reaction videos and compilations aren’t eligible for this protection, the tool significantly helps creators ensure they receive proper credit rather than losing value to reposting and aggregator accounts.
Available now to eligible creators in Facebook’s Content Monetization program, Content Protection is part of Meta’s broader effort to support authentic, original content creators on its platforms.
For creators seeking greater control and credit for their work, this new feature offers an important safeguard and peace of mind in the constantly evolving social media landscape.
